Following are a selection of some of the best add-ons for the Safari browser.

1. Inquisitor:
Are you looking for instant search results in Safari? If yes then, Inquisitor is the plug-in you are looking for. From the moment you start typing search terms in the search field, Inquisitor displays the search results in no time.
2. Safari AdBlock:

Too many Adverts on website(s) sometimes annoys the viewers, but it’s hard to find blogs or web sites with no advertisements. Like Firefox and Chrome, Safari also supports extra feature of blocking Ads on website(s) using a plug-in called Safari AdBlock. It nicely does the thing by blocking the Ads and neatly re-organizing the web page.

Initially Google Chrome didn’t spread it’s magic as the best browser due to it’s lack of support for third party plug-ins and extensions. But, Firefox has got a great support for add-ons and were at helm. This lead developers at Google to add few extra features to Google Chrome and hence extensions were introduced to provide a wide array of features.

Here are some of the must have extensions for Google Chrome,

1. AdSweep

Advertisements on certain web sites are very annoying to the reader. Google chrome sports a cool extension called AdSweep that enables the user to block advertisements on web sites. The traditional ad blockers like AdBlock in Firefox blocks adverts leaving sometimes the ad-holder empty but, AdSweep leaves the page clean. Following is a screen shot which shows a site with ads and the same site with AdSweep extension enabled.

Before

After

2.ChromeBird:

Probably the best extension for Twitter fans and social networking nerds. If you are working on a window and simultaneously want to tweet without leaving the window you are currently working on, then this extension is for you. ChromeBird lets you tweet and view your friends tweets as they come with the help of small window pane that overrides on current page. This extension also notifies when a new tweet arrives. Moreover, it enables you to see direct messages from your friends and followers as well.

3.Shareaholic:

If you like sharing stuff with the people via Facebook or Twitter then you might want to check out Shareaholic. Shareaholic is the better, quicker, easier extension to share, e-mail, tweet, and bookmark sites you like with friends, family, and co–workers.

4.XChrome:

5.WOT:

The Web Of Trust is a large community that rates millions of web sites. WOT is a popular add-on in Firefox, it warns you about online scams, adult-content sites and spam content. These warnings and rating would be helpful while doing business or buying stuff online.

Feedburner which stopped to innovate after Google acquisition added an useful feature which might of interest to bloggers. Now it is easier to publish your RSS feed headlines to twitter directly from Feedburner.

There is a new feature called socialize, which can be accessed from the publicize tab in feedburner allows you to push RSS feeds to twitter. You need to authenticate your twitter account first, this is done using OAuth so no panic there. Once you authenticate you can configure the options to send new tweets as soon as the feed gets updated.

If you have ever used services like twitterfeed, this feature looks familiar. You can send only titles of the posts or title along with body, add categories as hash tags, alternate text you want to add to the tweet etc. You can also filter out sending certain tweets to twitter using keywords.

Now with this “Socialize” feature enabled directly in Feedburner, i am sure that twitterfeed will loose much of its users. Why any one want to use another third-party service when you can directly use feedburner for that.

Another interesting thing is that Google is using Goo.gl URL shortner, currently the URL shortner is only available via Feedburner and Google Toolbar, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if it will be integrated to other Google services.

Goo.gl short URL service will be a bad news for the popular URL shortner bit.ly, as of now it may not be a big deal to them but once Goo.gl integrates it will Google Analytics then they are in soup. Also bit.ly’s strong point is that they are default twitter URL shortner, but there is no guarantee that twitter won’t switch to Goo.gl, atleast if Google offers payment for the same.

One thing is for sure, whatever web service gets popular with users, Google will jump into that. Isn’t it scary?

Google Chrome for Mac and Linux versions have finally hit beta today. If you are running chromium builds for Mac now you got the more stable beta version. It took quite a while for Google to release the Mac and Linux versions of the speedy browser, considering Google Chrome for Windows is launched more than a year ago.

Google says they have worked hard on Google Chrome for Mac to get it right, and they also claim that it is much faster. Download Google Chrome for Mac

We’ve been working hard to deliver a first-class browser for the Mac — it took longer than we expected, but we hope the wait was worth it! We wanted Google Chrome to feel at home on the Mac, so we’ve focused on uniting our clean, simple design with subtle animations and effects to create a snappy and satisfying browsing experience on OS X. As you might expect, the speed of Google Chrome for Mac is something we’re very proud of. If you have a Mac, try installing the beta and see how fast it launches — there’s hardly even time for the icon in the dock to bounce!

Google Chrome for Linux also hit beta today, Google says they are focused on speed, stability and security. Google Chrome for Linux is well integrated into the Linux ecosystem according to Google, including tight integration with native GTK themes, updates that are managed by the standard system package manager, and many other features. Download Google Chrome for Linux

Along with the Google Chrome for Mac and Linux versions today Google also announced the availability of extensions in beta. If you are running a beta version of Google Chrome you can install extensions now. The extensions are available for both Windows and Linux versions from today, but Mac users have to wait a while to get the extensions.

Lack of extensions on Google Chrome is one of the reason many Firefox fans are reluctant to move to Google Chrome although chrome is speedier than Firefox. Today with the launch of extensions Google chrome will gain some Firefox fans also. Google has launched an extensions gallery which contains 300 extensions as of now, but the number will increase soon as more people install extensions and this will boost developer activity.

If you are worried about Google chrome speed after installing extensions, Google says ”Chromium’s extensive performance monitoring infrastructure has helped us ensure extensions affect Google Chrome’s speed as little as possible.” So that’s a good news, but we will know for sure in the coming days how the extensions are affecting the overall speed of the Google Chrome browser.

Installing extensions is easy, no need of restarting the browser like Firefox. Click the install button and you are good to go.

Yahoo finance is still leader in Finance and Google Finance is trying hard to catch up. Google Finance recently got a facelift with a bunch of useful features. Today Google added a streaming news feature to Google Finance.

The streaming news can be seen both on the main page (Market tab) and on the overall market news page. The streaming news is only available to the US markets as of now and only be streamed from 8am to 5:30pm ET, 90 minutes before and after US trading hours. Google how about streaming news to the international markets also?.

Google dictionary although not as good as Answers.com, the later pulls lot of information for the query including Wikipedia articles etc. But for simple definitions Google dictionary is enough for most people.

It displays synonyms, definitions, related phrases for the word, and also web definitions, that is definitions from other places. You can star the words you searched using the star before the word. You can later see the starred words for your reference. It supports 28 languages as of now including most popular ones like English, French, Spanish etc. [Via Google OS]

There are plethora of fabulous images on the web you might want to use in your blog. But, some times you might not be sure of the license and whether the image is copyrighted or not. Following are three useful WordPress plugins which enable you to add images to your blog without the hassle of license and copyright issues.

PicApp – premium celeb, news, sports images

PicApp enables you to add the best images for your blog. It has over twenty million images from Getty Images, Corbis and alike, covering wide range of categories like sports, news, entertainment, fashion, travel etc. All images provided by PicApp are free and fully licensed. Moreover, these images come tagged to improve Search Engine Optimization(SEO) and help reader interaction. As all images are licensed, you need not worry about any copyright or license issues.

Photo Dropper

Photo Dropper is a similar WordPress plugin which lets you add Creative commons licensed images to your blog posts from Flickr. Once installed, just type in a keyword in the ‘Photo Dropper Browse Photos panel’ for the type of images you are looking for, then hit “Search” button. Photo Dropper plug-in will return photos relevant to your search terms from Flickr. Each image loads with options for dropping the image into your WordPress editor in 3 sizes – Small, Medium and Large. You might want to read more about how Photo Dropper works here.

Tagaroo

This WordPress plug-in gives you an integration between your WordPress blog and OpenCalais web service. Tagaroo retrieves semantic data like people, places, events, etc. relevant to your blog post. You can use this data as tags on your blog. It will also use these tags to search Flickr for appropriately licensed images for use in your blog posts.

It doesn’t bother you with cat captchas are anything like that. It doesn’t ask you to register also, just upload the file and send it to your friends or colleagues.

WeTransfer allows you to upload files via the browser and then fill out upto 20 email addresses of the people you want to send the files, enter your email id and you are good to go. The files are uploaded to wetransfer servers and once that is done you will receive a mail and your recipients too.

The files are stored for 2 weeks after that they are deleted. You may wonder how the free file sending works. Infact it has an interesting business model, Wetransfer displays a background image, which is a kind of branding ad for companies who want to advertise on wetransfer.

If you want to send large files give Wetranfer a try.
